September 25, 1932 an incredible woman was born - Dorris Cook, who later married my dad, Tom Skinner. Today, I will be taking my daughter to the cemetary to see mom's crypt and to pay our respects. We then will attend confession and a mass at 4:30. There is something humbling about all this. It makes you feel more spiritual, when you lose a parent. You look to them for strength and advice your whole life. When that is no longer there, voila, you have grown up.
Happy Birthday Mom - this may be our first birthday we don't celebrate together, but it is a birthday we will silently and reverantly hold as special to our hearts. You are missed, but you are still with me always.

Being a single mom with a twelve year old daughter is not uncommon these days. However, the things I find myself in can either be humorous or shed a tear. I will use this blog to express my emotions and release anxiety. You, the reader, get ready for this....because it may be a bumpy ride.
